W-1

Overview

W-1 is colloquial term for Phantom Energy Fuel, a fuel comprised of dark energy mixed with rare earthen minerals. It provides negative kentic energy which can be harnessed to provide fuel for faster than light travel. Visually it comes in forms of purple hued crystallized rock formations.

Instability

W-1's dark matter component is highly unstable when handled and can lead to producing tears. What was thought in the past to be a precursor to the universe ending, but in reality turn out to be a much smaller, yet still quite dangerous problem of its ability to create small, temporary tares in the universe known as Rips.

The crystals in their raw form as toxic and can cause poisoning resulting in crystaline growths on the skin, internal organs and will cause eventual death if not treated correctly.

Mining

Mining of the Ore is done using specialist tools and should not be attempted by hand. Mineing of W-1 is regulated in most Empires and Government controlled spaces due to the dangers of possible Rips. After the proliferation of W-1 throughout the galaxy mining became far more common, allowing wider access to the crystals energy.
