Overview

Directed Energy is the term used for anything that is not a mass that is projected with velocity from its source of power or housing. This pertains to lasers mainly, but plasma is another form that falls under this terminology. DES differs from LumiGen as it is not locked in place by emitters, and the energy output is far, far greater in terms of energy houses in a volumetric space. Most DES systems are capacitor-driven with a small energy generator to recharge said capacitors. The heat produced by said systems is very, very intense, and thus requires a coolant system, usually consisting of a VPA pack to expend the thermal energy as to not compromise the integrity of the system or housing. Failure to cool said systems have been seen to destroy the electronics within, melting them into slag, or completely erupting into a burning mass, and exploding as it is pushed beyond its capable limits. Safety features are installed upon these systems to prevent catastrophic malfunction. This is for the user’s safety.
